Match for Greatness

In October, Dorothy was able to spend more time with LightHouse Academy leadership students as well as the students in 4th to 8th grade. As a team, they planned together for 2017. And as a team, they decided to create and commit to what they are calling the “Match For Greatness” initiative.

This initiative includes the following commitments outlined by the students:

•We will participate in the Match For Greatness for the next three years. As part of the Match For Greatness, we will raise the standard higher for our community in Alendu to match the greatness of others.

•We will raise our academic standards to global levels. We have achieved the top performance of our county for three consecutive years, and now we are going to strive to match the global standards.

•We will not settle for less in our integrity as youths and young people. We will walk daily in the light and guidance of God for each one of us to reach our fullest potential. We will support and hold each other accountable to achieve our goals.

•We will reach out to those of our age in the neighboring communities nationwide and share with them the blessings that the Lord has given us.

•We will engage all of our friends, family and partners to help us reach our goals.

Having a front row seat to the planning and the conversations of the students, Dorothy was deeply moved by what she was seeing.

She has shared what she wrote in her journal about the experience: “As our students verbalized these goals, I was in awe of how much desire and motivation they have to reach their fullest potential. Immediately I felt the weight of responsibility to guide them through this path. But I was quickly reminded of God’s hand over this vision. What a sense of peace and joy! We commit to join these youths to “Match for Greatness.” We invite you to join us in this journey. This journey started in 1996 and continues to grow and get perfected each year and with each generation. God is putting the numbers together for the next three years at Rafiki, and we are excited to see what unfolds.
